The Huntsville Botanical Garden is an urban sanctuary with more than 2,600 varieties of plant life that make for an educational experience as well as a place of beauty. The Garden features several walking trails, picnic areas, and greenhouses full of seasonal displays as well as exotic and native plant life from all over the world. Monte Sano State Park
Monte Sano State Park is an Alabama state park and historic site that was established in 1966. It includes hiking trails, picnic areas, an 18-hole golf course designed by Pete Dye, and scenic overlooks over Huntsville. The park offers many amenities including three lakes: Norris Lake, Lake Guntersville Dam East Reservoir, and Cavett Lake with fishing docks. Monte Sano Golf Course features a restaurant open to the public serving breakfast lunch and dinner year-round; it also has a pro shop for supplies and equipment rental. The park's campground contains modern facilities as well as four primitive sites along remote wooded roads nestled beside six miles of shoreline on Guntersville Lake.
U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum
The U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum located in Huntsville, Alabama, is a museum that focuses on the U.S. military conflicts following our country's history. The museum was founded by two brothers, Charles and Keith Morgan in the year 2000; who are also military veterans themselves. The main focus of this museum is to honor all those that have served in the U.S. military, and the conflicts they were a part of. The museum itself is a very large building, with two stories, each containing many different displays about specific conflicts or wars.
Madison County Nature Trail-Green Mountain
Madison County Nature Trail-Green Mountain is a hiking trail in Huntsville, Alabama. The site is 72 acres and is considered easy for hiking. Madison County Nature Trail-Green Mountain Park was built in 1974 and 1975 by the Madison County Parks and Recreation Department as a retreat from the busy city life of Huntsville. The park contains a naturalist center, restrooms, picnic tables, benches, shelters, playgrounds, and areas for a fishing pond and more.
